Mercedes Map Update Instructions
Updating the maps on your Mercedes is relatively simple and does not require any special skills or tools. Follow the instructions below to install the latest Mercedes-Benz Navigation Update without any trouble.
Before You Begin
- Ensure you have the latest version of the maps on a USB drive. If you opted for "Download Maps" when making your purchase, download from the link provided and transfer the files to a USB drive. If you purchased maps on a USB drive, you may skip this step.
- Make sure you have the license key for the map updates handy. If you have not received the license key as part of your package, send us a support message from our website along with your Order Number and the email used to make the purchase.
- The update process can take up to 60 minutes to complete. Ensure you have enough fuel to keep the car running for at least this period. During this time you will not be able to use your vehicle.
- Do not remove the USB drive, turn off the engine, or force-restart the multimedia system while the update is in progress. Interrupting the process may cause the update to freeze.

-
Step 1: Prepare Your USB Drive
Format a 64GB USB drive to exFAT. Download all files from your order email, extract the complete package and copy the contents directly to the root of the USB drive. Do not place the files inside a subfolder and do not copy unopened ZIP or RAR files.
-
Step 2: Start the Vehicle and Insert USB
Start your Mercedes engine. Insert the USB drive into the data-capable USB port in your center console or armrest (the port marked with a media/phone icon). Wait 5-10 seconds for the system to recognise the update files.
-
Step 3: Accept the Update Prompt
The COMAND screen will display a prompt showing the current map version and the new map version. Review the region and package information carefully. Click "Yes" to begin the update.
-
Step 4: Enter the FSC / License Key
When prompted for the Map License Key, enter the 20-digit FSC code supplied with your order. Use the rotary dial to input each character carefully. The code is case-sensitive — do not repeatedly guess a rejected code.
-
Step 5: Wait for Installation to Complete
The map update will now begin. The process takes 30-60 minutes so please be patient. Keep the engine running throughout the update process. Keep the COMAND system functions disabled while the update is running. Interrupting the process may cause the update to freeze.
-
Step 6: Verify the New Map Version
Once the update is complete you will see a success message. The system may automatically reboot. Remove the USB from the port. You can confirm the new map version and year from the Navigation settings in your Display.
-
Step 1: Prepare Your USB Drive
NTG6 (MBUX) requires the USB drive to be formatted to exFAT. Place all extracted map files directly on the root of the drive — no subfolders. Use a reliable, brand-name USB drive for best results.
-
Step 2: Start the Vehicle and Connect USB
Start the vehicle. Plug the USB drive into the Type-C USB port in the center console (use a Type-A to Type-C adapter if needed). MBUX will automatically detect the new map data and display an "Update available" notification.
-
Step 3: Tap to Start the Update
Tap the notification or navigate to the update menu. Review the current and new map version displayed on screen. Tap "Update" to confirm. Do not continue if the region shown is incorrect.
-
Step 4: Enter the License Key
The system will request a license key. Use the MBUX touchscreen to enter the 20-digit FSC code provided with your order. Check capital letters, numbers and spacing carefully. Photograph any error before contacting support.
-
Step 5: Allow Background Installation
MBUX installs the update in the background (30-60 minutes). Monitor progress in the notification center by swiping down from the top of the screen. Do not remove the USB drive or force-restart the system while the update is running.
-
Step 6: Verify and Remove USB
After the completion message and automatic reboot, open Navigation settings and confirm the new map version and correct region are displayed. Test route calculation. Remove the USB only after the system has fully completed the update.
-
Step 1: Prepare Your USB Drive
Format your USB drive to FAT32. Unzip the downloaded map files and copy the contents directly to the root of the USB drive — do not nest them inside a folder. Use the USB capacity stated in your order email.
-
Step 2: Insert USB and Navigate
Start the engine. Insert the USB into the front USB port. On the Audio 20 display, press the NAVI button, then go to Options > Map Update. Allow the system time to verify the installation media.
-
Step 3: Enter Activation Code
The system will detect the new map data and prompt for an activation code. Enter the FSC code exactly as supplied — it is case-sensitive. Do not repeatedly guess a rejected code. If rejected, contact support with your order number.
-
Step 4: Wait for Background Installation
Installation runs in the background (20-40 minutes). Do not switch off the ignition or remove the USB drive. A confirmation message will appear when the installation is complete.
-
Step 5: Confirm the Update
Once the confirmation message appears, remove the USB drive. Navigate to the map settings to verify the new map version and year are correctly displayed. Test a route calculation to ensure the update was successful.
