Everything you need to know about the Freischaltcode required to activate your Mercedes-Benz navigation map update.
An FSC (Freischaltcode) is a 20-digit alphanumeric password required by your Mercedes-Benz head unit to unlock and install new map data.
It is a security measure designed by the manufacturer to ensure that only authorized map updates are installed. Every code is cryptographically generated and completely unique to your vehicle's 17-character Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
Because codes are tied to the VIN, an FSC code generated for one Mercedes cannot be used on another.
A One-Time FSC code is valid only for the specific map version you purchase today (e.g., Europe 2025 v22.0).
A Lifetime FSC code unlocks your head unit permanently. You will never need to purchase another activation code for this vehicle.
To generate your code, we need your exact 17-character Vehicle Identification Number. You can find it in several places:
Visible from the outside looking through the bottom corner of the windshield.
On the certification label inside the driver's side door frame.
Listed as the Chassis Number or VIN on your vehicle title or insurance card.
